Point Work lll (2022)
Part of Brent Ray Fraser’s ongoing Self Portrait Study Series, Point Work III draws inspiration from both Georges Seurat and Roy Lichtenstein, reinterpreting the visual language of pointillism through Fraser’s signature Brush Stroke Technique.
Constructed through thousands of individual impressions, the work explores optical blending, color relationships, and visual perception. Referencing Seurat’s pioneering chromoluminarism and Lichtenstein’s enlarged Ben-Day dots, Fraser transforms historical painting methods into a contemporary act of embodied mark making.
Deep blues, luminous whites, warm oranges, and subtle earth tones interact across the canvas, creating a dynamic image that becomes increasingly coherent as the viewer steps back from the work.
Point Work III was featured in NUDUS ERECTUS, Fraser’s first solo New York exhibition presented at SoHo Project Space in Manhattan and hosted by renowned collector Charles W. Leslie.
