Sacred Icon ll (2026)

Sale price$1,000.00

A vivid contemporary icon created through Fraser’s signature Brush Stroke Technique. Stark contrasts and simplified gestural forms reduce the figure to pure emotional symbolism, suspended between devotion and pop expressionism.

Created as an homage to Andy Warhol’s reinterpretations of religious imagery and pop iconography, Sacred Icon II draws inspiration from the bold colour fields and layered portrait techniques associated with mid-century Pop Art. Fraser approached the work through a contemporary physical process, underpainting the canvas with vibrant colour before applying the image through his own experimental body-based printmaking method using the Brush Stroke Technique.

Through this act, Fraser sought to create a sexually charged and emotionally confrontational reinterpretation of sacred imagery, merging reverence, desire, art history, and performance into a single gesture. The work reflects Fraser’s fascination with the great masters of art history and his desire to physically connect with the emotional and creative intensity that fueled their iconic works generations ago.
