Becoming I: Self Portrait Study II (2026)
Created entirely through Brent Ray Fraser’s signature Brush Stroke Technique, Becoming I: Self Portrait Study II explores themes of transformation, self-awareness, and personal evolution. Vivid crimson, magenta, cyan, and ultramarine passages merge to create a figure that appears simultaneously solid and dissolving, suspended between physical presence and psychological reflection.
Executed through Fraser’s distinctive body painting methodology and incorporating his infamous genital imprint techniques, every mark originates through direct physical engagement with the surface. The resulting image functions as both self-portrait and performance artifact, preserving the movements and gestures that brought the work into existence.
Part of Fraser’s ongoing exploration of Art Sexualism, Becoming I reflects the body as both creator and subject. The work examines the tension between external identity and inner experience, transforming the human figure into a symbol of continual growth, vulnerability, and becoming.
