Mother & Daughter United (2015)

Sale price$4,500.00

Mother & Daughter United is a monumental double portrait exploring memory, loss, reconciliation, and the enduring bond between mother and daughter. Created live at Fraser’s Silo Art Studio in 2015 as part of his large-scale performance painting practice, the work reunites two of the most recognizable women of the modern era, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, in a symbolic composition that imagines connection beyond history and tragedy.

Influenced by themes of family, separation, and remembrance, the painting also carries deeply personal significance. Beyond its royal subject matter, the work reflects Fraser’s relationship with his own mother and explores the universal emotional ties that shape our lives.

Executed through Fraser’s signature Brush Stroke Technique, the portrait combines performance painting, figurative art, and cultural iconography. A vibrant retro-inspired heart motif creates a symbolic framework of unity, continuity, and emotional connection, transforming the work into both a historical reflection and a personal meditation on family.

Created before a live online audience and documented by longtime collaborator Roger B. Williams, Mother & Daughter United remains one of the most ambitious portrait works from Fraser’s early performance archive, demonstrating his ability to merge contemporary painting with historical narrative and personal symbolism.

Acrylic on canvas, executed through the artist’s Brush Stroke Technique
